Of the reasons listed in the article “Why is baseball no longer no America’s Game”, I believe that the most significant factor in the decline of baseball was the rise of television. I think that the rise of television was so substantial to the decline of baseball because baseball’s stardom more efficiently ran on the radio. Most people would understand baseball through the radio since it’s a less visual sport. So now that television has spiraled into popularity, it also means the rise to more visual sports for example soccer, basketball, and football can overthrow baseball as America’s top sport. This is some evidence to back up my opinion, as it states in the article “The NFL, of course, is a sport that benefited tremendously from being seen. Baseball, on the other hand, doesn’t gain as much going from radio to television.” The rise of television, baseball being a slower game than other sports, and this new generation’s attention span education were detrimental to its decline as America’s game. I believe that Major League Baseball can try to address these issues by trying to make the game more face paced or maybe making the game more interesting to viewers. Baseball has stuck too much to its original ballpark form. It's not like many sports that have evolved a lot through the years. Something else they can do is try to promote their players more or promote themselves to try and stay in the competition.
